We are on a journey to evolve our Petro-Canada marketing presence through web, apps, digital paid media and online location presence. We are looking for someone to join our team that has a passion for developing integrated digital user experiences and managing a wide variety of stakeholders. As our subject matter expert, you will be required to interface with our other marketing communication leads, content developers, agencies and our business partners. You will work on large, complicated projects and help us set our marketing communications group’s direction in support of our digital transformation!  Every day you will be challenged to Live By The Leaf.  To learn more about us and the exciting things our Petro-Canada team is doing click here.  

You will use your expertise to: 

  • Lead the design and implementation of best-in-class user experiences, information architecture / design and content strategy for Petro-Canada branded web and app properties  
  • Lead user-centered design activities and web/app content strategy for our B2C and B2B business clients  
  • Translate business strategy into quality user experiences, information architecture/design and content using best in class processes and practices  
  • Understand Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategy and lead the optimization of content   
  • Ensure all web content and usability/accessibility meets online regulatory compliance guidelines  
  • Interpret web analytics and conduct usability testing to make iterative improvements and content recommendations  
  • Actively monitor industry best practices and lead development and implementation of best in class user experience, information architecture and content development.    
  • Manage websites and apps, when required, ensuring it is on brand, relevant to the channels and achieves business objectives  
  • Deliver end-to-end web project work from discovery to launch in regard to content, design, information architecture and user experience 

We’d like to review your application if you have… 

Must-haves (minimum requirements): 

  • Six years’ experience specific to digital website experience and design and content development  
  • A keen understanding of the customer experience and the important role of design for web and app
  • Experience interpreting analytics and voice-of-customer insights to improve usability, enterprise content management systems (i.e. Sitecore) and search engine optimization (SEO) 
  • Project management skills with proven ability to meeting tight deadlines 
  • The ability to translate technical requirements into digital briefs and recommendations while collaborating with developers to execute projects   
  • Experience with content management systems and can develop content based on audience, device and understands different engagement methods  
  • Excellent skills leading exercises with a team of stakeholders tied to card sorting, content mapping and building information architectures or sitemaps 
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing 

Preference for: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent Communications related degree or diploma  
  • Retail digital marketing experience 
  • Experience with design tools like Adobe XD, Azure or Sketch 

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information: 

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W. 
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs 
  • We require qualified and safety-focused employees for business-critical roles that maintain our commitment to operational excellence and reliable operations.
