Corporate Security Advisor

You will use your expertise to:

  • Oversee the activities and personnel on an assigned shift to ensure effective and efficient handling of calls according to established guidelines, procedures, and policies
  • Manage up to three contract Operators per shift and ensures appropriate staffing levels are maintained
  • Prepare and conduct shift briefings to maintain awareness of relevant events, situations or emergent events
  • Liaise and brief other Supervisors to ensure continuity of operations and awareness across all shifts
  • Supervise and handle the administration involved in  staff development and training, performance management, employee relations, prioritizing and assigning work and related activities
  • Assist Operators by monitoring and responding to a security and emergency system and complex calls and dispatches
  • Develop and update processes and procedures to ensure effective operations
  • Oversee and administer the Incident Management/Dispatch system, ensuring operating and response procedures are up to date, liaising with local staff and management as necessary

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Seven years’ experience in supervising and providing direction to security guard force operations, and security or 911 emergency dispatch operations centres
  • Fluency in English and French
  • A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Experience operating various security technology platforms (access control, Computer Aided Dispatch, CCTV, incident management, travel security, etc.)
  • Demonstrable experience supervising and leading in an operations or 911 dispatch centre environment, developing procedures and responding to emergent situations
  • Experience in the management of incidents, emergent situations, crisis management and crisis and contingency planning
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, conflict management and problem-solving skills

Preference for:

  • A security industry certification such as: Certified in Security Supervision and Management (CSSM), Certified Protection Officer (CPO) or another equivalent emergency management/dispatch designation
  • Conflict resolution skills and the ability to provide direction in ambiguous situations or when competing priorities are present
  • Analytical and troubleshooting skills and the ability to process large amounts of data in a timely manner
  • Highly motivated, well-organized and a proven team player who exhibits a consistently positive attitude with attention to detail and confidentiality

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • Hours of work are a rotating shift schedule to cover 24/7 operational requirements, which will require you to work weekends and holidays
  • Required to work additional shifts or provide additional support at short notice during major incidents or implementation of contingency plans
  • You must be prepared to travel any operational site in the United States, Canada and internationally
