Job Overview

Reporting to the manager, corporate strategy, you will provide research and analytical support of business direction-setting and decision-making for our corporate strategy team. You will perform competitive analysis and benchmarking, portfolio reviews, internal and external financial analysis and monitor external markets.

Key Accountabilities

  • Perform financial and business analysis on varying topics relevant to the energy industry
  • Perform competitor benchmarking, which includes managing a database of competitor metrics
  • Monitor daily news, collect independent research and provide analysis to managers and executives
  • Provide summaries of industry events and transactions to management
  • Support the creation of strategy material presented to our executive leadership team and board of directors

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Two years relevant industry experience is preferred
  • Working towards an MBA, CPA designation or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program would be an asset
  • Bachelor degree in business or economics, with a preference for finance
  • High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Keen interest in commodity/financial markets and the energy sector
  • Possess strong financial modeling, accounting, graphing and analytical skills
  • Proficient computer skills, with a strong command of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Exceptional work ethic, self-motivation and high attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent social skills, with ability to maintain relationships both inside and outside of the organization
