Job Overview

Reporting to the manager, refinery supply and by-products accounting, you will be responsible for the accounting related to activities impacting our refineries and product supply. This includes the supply and marketing of certain refined products related to the refineries.

Key Accountabilities

  • Work closely with the supply, trading and optimization front office group in the accounting of refined product sales in relation purchase and sale to the refineries and product supply
  • Prepare the monthly net-forward and net-back invoices for refined products
  • Contribute to the reconciliation of crude oil and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) through the book-to-physical process to ensure inventory is recorded and valued appropriately
  • Address supplier, purchaser or internal credit queries and liaise with the refined front office group in Mississauga to resolve issues
  • Manage the system transactions from CXL into the SAP general ledger
  • Prepare various reports including ad hoc analysis and regulatory reporting to support the business
  • Responsible for master data entries and setting-up processes as required
  • Ad hoc projects including improved transparency into logistics costs and treatment of these costs across the refineries, accuracy of calculating first-in-first-out (FIFO) lag impacts, etc.

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Three or more years of experience, preferably in crude trading and/or in LPG accounting
  • Experience with commodity trading and risk management systems is an asset
  • CPA designation is an asset
  • University degree required, preferably in business, economics or finance
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

Skills and knowledge:

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Visio skills
  • Proficiency in SAP, particularly experienced in the following modules: FI/CO, BW, BCS, MM, PAR
  • Knowledge of accounting transactions within an inter-company environment is preferred
  • Knowledge of commodity trading and risk management (CTRM) systems is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to facilitate cross-functional working meetings
  • You collaborate with others in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
