If you have strong technical depth and experience in advanced analytics, combined with the ability to consult with business stakeholders to shape and translate end-user needs into meaningful insights, then the Analytics Design and Delivery Lead is the role for you! Acting as a bridge between business/functional areas, and analytics specialist, you will lead cross-functional teams in conducting initial Data Discovery, Exploration and Value Hypotheses on analytics use case opportunities.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Articulate analytics propositions to business stakeholders and conduct diagnostics to identify use case opportunities
  • Share insights with business stakeholders and collect inputs to verify and iterate analytics results
  • Support analytics design decisions by taking relevant inputs from business teams and defining a clear initial plan and scope for the analytics team
  • Lead persona identifications (with support from Visualization Developers) that tells the story, with initial mockups/wireframes on the translations of business needs, to advanced analytics hypotheses for exploration
  • Adhere to data architectural principles and security standards
  • Foster Data Science vendor relationships on analytics technology contracts
  • Apply knowledge of various project management techniques and methodologies (e.g. agile) to initiatives while ensuring team members are motivated and fostering positive moral and use case outcomes
  • Act as a decision maker accountable for escalating key issues and/or risks that may originate from assigned Design and Development opportunities
  • Provide early requirements input into the analytics technology and platform roadmap
  • Act as a technical lead with a consulting mindset

We’d like to review your application if you have…

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Eight years of experience in business or functional operations in an industrial setting, including that years of leadership experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or another quantitative field
  • Solid experience in building analytical technical plans and initial design options from business opportunities
  • Experience with data preparation and analysis (e.g. data transformation, regression models, ANOVA)
  • Exposure to data science, and machine learning tools and techniques (e.g. Python, R, Matlab, Weka, supervised and unsupervised learning regression)
  • An understanding of Cloud Computing, Microsoft Power BI, to build analytic products
  • Alignment with our values: safety above all else, stronger together, operational discipline, curiosity and lifelong learning, and act with integrity

Preference for:

  • Experience in consulting, preferably in AI, Analytics, or Product Development
  • An understanding of team-based data science accelerator processes such as versioning, build pipelines etc.
  • An understanding of analytics physical and networking architecture, technologies, and processes

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W; relocation support will be provided
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
  • We are so invested in building advanced analytics skills within our organization that we've created the Analytics Academy to provide training to employees through instructor-led courses, e-learning, communities of practice, etc.
  • Relocation support will be provided
  • We require qualified and safety-focused employees for business-critical roles that maintain our commitment to operational excellence and reliable operations.
