Azure DataOps Specialist

We are looking for an individual who is excited to learn about new technologies, automating and streamlining processes. In this role, you will leverage your expertise within Azure Cloud Technology to advise the business on big data platform services, vendor products and architectural designs.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Enable and support the design, delivery, operations and sustainment of the Azure technology stack
  • Create and maintain automated methods of orchestrating data platforms while monitoring data quality and the status of related infrastructure
  • Oversee and support data and analytics capabilities and technologies, ensuring functional specifications meet or exceed established business and functional requirements, technical standards, quality measures and continuous improvement goals
  • Provide technical perspective on big data platform services, vendor products and architectural designs
  • Participate in architectural discussions to build confidence and ensure customer success when building new solutions and migrating existing data applications on the Azure platform
  • Manage business and product team in-take requests; recommended best practices (technology / process / security); creation and maintenance of resource groups and the associated services.
  • Conduct technical discovery, identify pain points, business and technical requirements, “as is” and “to be” scenarios
  • Translate complex functional and technical requirements into detailed design, and then rapidly prototype those designs into solutions in an agile environment
  • Collaborate with product teams to assess and establish the required pipeline to support business objectives; identify opportunities to streamline delivery processes
  • Design, manage and maintain tools to automate operational and business processes

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Four or more years of hands-on experience in Azure and Big Data technologies such as ADF, ADLS/Blob, Synapse, Databricks
  • A Bachelor’s degree or a technical diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or a related field
  • Experience supporting and / or operating data and analytics capabilities and tooling; Azure is required
  • Excellent grasp of cloud fundamentals and solutioning around PaaS/SaaS/IaaS; Azure is required
  • Experience with .NET framework (C# and PowerShell) or similar technologies
  • Solid understanding of product management, agile principles and development methodologies and capability of supporting agile teams by providing advice and guidance on opportunities, impact and risks, taking account of technical and architectural debt.
  • Proven ability to learn and adopt new technologies in a fast-evolving environment
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills to enable the development of high value, fit for purpose data solutions
  • The ability to communicate and present technical information to diverse groups as well as senior leaders
  • A collaborative, self-starter attitude, with an ability to multi-task and make critical decisions in a timely fashion under little supervision · Alignment with our values: safety above all else, stronger together, operational discipline, curiosity and lifelong learning, and act with integrity

Preference for:

  • Good understanding of DevOps and DataOps principals and tools
  • Experience in enterprise-wide applications, API, middleware/web services and databases
  • Azure certification

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
