Business Process Specialist

In this role, you will be a key player in the delivery of process design and redesign initiatives for our Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) business function with a focus on automation, data and analytics, and our Operational Excellence Management System (OEMS).

You will use your expertise to:

  • Provide support to positively influence leaders and encourage the effective planning and implementation of process improvement and automation initiatives
  • Design and optimize EH&S Business Process Model (BPM). Activities will include data gathering and analysis, process mapping, BPM best practice suggestions and implementation, developing and recommending alternatives for improvement, and developing metrics and monitoring post-process improvement initiative performance
  • Collaborate with process governance stakeholders to understand existing challenges and facilitate the capture of improvement suggestions to help mature EH&S business process management
  • Lead change management activities associated with process improvement
  • Provide input to EH&S strategy implementation team members in effectiveness of standards and governance requirements for any process-related changes to support EH&S audit and assessments activities

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Four years of experience in BPM methodology and process improvement
  • An undergraduate degree in Business Administration/Management or related field of education and experience
  • A commitment to strive and develop strong and positive relationships with the business units and functions to drive standard adoption
  • A strong business acumen and an ability to think critically and strategically along with a continuous improvement mindset
  • A deep understanding of the energy industry and value chain
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills demonstrating constructive, well-articulated problem resolution and facilitation skills
  • A strong leadership capability demonstrating talent to facilitate workshops with all levels of the organization with the ability to translate concepts into practice and simple application
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing

Preference for:

  • A background in business process governance and standards management
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification or equivalent process improvement experience
  • Formal training or certification in BPM methodology and change management

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
