Business Relationship Manager, Supply and Trading

Job Overview

Are you an influential business manager who has extensive experience representing service portfolio and strategy offerings to business clients? If so, we have an incredible opportunity for you in our digital and enterprise technical department. Working closely with the director of business engagement, you will play a key role in consulting with the business to build consistent and quality business proposals, and ensuring that value is generated through our various initiatives.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support the trading organization as your primary partner, to actively manage customer expectations and work with accountable service owners to progress opportunities and address service levels
  • Engage in strategic and tactical decisions with senior leadership for the purposes of budgeting and progressing both business and information technology outcomes
  • Understand and translate requirements, and communicate to all levels how these services can support organization operational performance
  • Analyze the costs, benefits and risks of proposed services and solutions to drive strategic investments; and be accountable for the long range plan and the annual budget plan
  • Own the supply, trading and optimization account plan, where you will be responsible for keeping it up to date and ensuring the business unit understands their contribution to the plan
  • Ensure that process compliance is being upheld within the team and provide feedback for areas of improvement; influence new and existing relationships

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Eight years in a business relationship manager role, including progressive levels of people leadership
  • Four years of experience in an IT or business strategy role
  • Experience in project development or business analysis is an asset
  • An undergraduate degree in a related discipline is preferred; an MBA post graduate degree is an asset

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Five years of working knowledge of the supply, trading and optimization business function within the oil and gas industry
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, supported by active listening behaviours, with a keen ability to influence and negotiate
  • You can easily adapt to multiple priorities and challenging demands in a dynamic environment and you have a strong continuous improvement mindset
  • You have strong influential skills, with the ability to bridge the gap between information technology requirements and business strategy
  • You have experience defusing challenging or confrontational situations
  • You are a strong problem solver and you make sound decisions in demanding and ambiguous situations; you are capable of working independently with limited supervision or direction

Working Conditions:

  • This position is based in Calgary at the Suncor Energy Centre; with the leader for this position located in Mississauga.
  • Domestic and international travel to Suncor’s operating sites may be required on an infrequent basis
