CAD Analyst, Asset Information Management

Job Overview

Reporting to the team lead, asset information management, you will be responsible for the timely coordination of CAD drafting for all project redlines, management of change (MOC), and turnarounds. You will review the drafting scope of work, assess the need for outsourcing, and quality check the native files prior to turnover to the information management team.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support the development of procedures associated with as-building and CAD
  • Utilize and maintain our tracking tools for the status of redlines and drafting
  • Collaborate with designers and drafters to ensure 3D models and cover sheets are requested and turned over in the appropriate design tools and systems
  • Ensure standards, processes, and procedures are followed consistently across the business area
  • Coordinate as-building efforts with our Major Projects team on a case by case basis
  • Provide guidance and support, including participation in user acceptance testing, for any future design tool and system upgrades and improvement initiatives
  • Act as an advisor on standard and drafting requirements to our asset information management coordinators and MOC team members

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Three to five years of experience as a designer or administrator within engineering design tools in the oil and gas industry
  • Experience with industry drafting standards, engineering drawings, and information management lifecycles
  • Mechanical or electrical engineering technology diploma or equivalent
  • Membership in an associated technical association is an asset
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, AutoPlant, and SmartPlant Instrumentation
  • Knowledge of industry standard information management systems; CERLL is preferred
  • Deep understanding of engineering scope of work in order to provide appropriate direction to surface problems and build creative solutions
  • Excellent communication skills with the aptitude to build relationships despite geographical barriers
  • You continually seek greater knowledge about the systems, processes and hazards in the workplace, to understand not just what you do but why you do it
  • You do not take or tolerate shortcuts and if the procedure is incorrect, you fix it
  • You manage your own time and can address numerous issues simultaneously

Working Conditions

  • This position is based in Calgary, Alberta at the Suncor Energy Centre on a Monday to Friday schedule with occasional travel to site as required
