Case Management Advisor

Are you passionate about leading and coordinating the case management of employees participating in our substance abuse program and Integrated Disability Management program? In this temporary role and reporting to the team lead of our alcohol and drug (A&D) program, you will use your case management experience to coordinate substance abuse assessments, treatment, and relapse prevention monitoring, and manage medical cannabis cases.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Lead the case management of employees participating in all phases of Suncor’s A&D substance abuse programs from the initial assessment to the conclusion of program
  • Capture, assess and evaluate relevant information related to the employee’s case including return to work plan
  • Identify and communicate restrictions and limitations where applicable
  • Collaborate with other practitioners in the program, both internal and external
  • Identify risks associated with Human Rights and Labour and Employee Relations impacts
  • Present cases to senior leaders highlighting key information
  • Develop, implement and monitor employee-specific case management plans to drive the successful conclusion of medical cannabis cases
  • Exercise ethical and professional judgment in determining the appropriate collection, use and disclosure of personal health information, working closely with Suncor's Privacy Officer, human resources, labour relations and legal counsel
  • Monitor and report on the quality and efficiency of third party provider services
  • Participate in A&D enterprise issue management, internal benchmarking and stewardship

We’d like to review your application if you have…

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Five years of experience in disability management including: substance abuse assessments, treatment and recovery theory, models and processes
  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field plus a diploma or certificate in Occupational Health and/or Disability Management
  • Registration (or eligible for registration) with a health sciences college or licensing body in Alberta and other applicable districts in Canada
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite
  • A deep understanding of A&D programs including testing practices and legislation related to A&D management in the workplace (e.g. human rights legislation)
  • Strong project management skills to monitor employees in recovery and relationships with third party service providers
  • Highly organized and detail oriented skills with an ability to manage, track and complete deliverables in a timely manner
  • Knowledge of regulations governing the access to cannabis for medical purposes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to collaborate and build positive relationships

Preference for:

  • A designation or training in addictions and recovery process
  • Working knowledge of Cority

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • We prefer that the position is Calgary-based, although other Suncor locations will be considered
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • This is a temporary position for a period of 12 months
