We’re growing our Calgary-based Cloud and Infrastructure team and need an experienced cloud professional to bring deep knowledge and a passion for all things tech. You will support a multi-cloud platform and on-premise server environment. You will leverage your expertise to contribute to the successful transition from outsource to in-house IT, ensuring stable operations of our large server environment. You will then have opportunities to build new solutions such as automation and new features/capabilities in the cloud. This is an exciting time to join our Cloud Platform team, which is responsible for all “build” and “run” work within our cloud environments, and a great opportunity to stretch and grow your expertise in the cloud space!

You will use your expertise to:

  • Lead transitioning away from our outsourced (off-shore) operational team to ensure a smooth transition, technical knowledge transfer, appropriate documentation and streamlined process
  • Assess business requirement, create Solution Design and execute build activities.
  • Build and mature automation IaaC framework for deployments and operational activities
  • Resolve operational incidents, lead root cause analysis, problem management and technology guidance to team members
  • Lead opportunities to streamline and improve operational processes, and automate where possible
  • Handle and approve changes to our infrastructure environment, minimize risk and operational impacts and ensure that we mitigate and understand cross-functional impacts to other infrastructure components
  • Work collaboratively with other functional teams and projects to meet their requirements such as service provisioning and effective communication of technical concepts and timelines
  • Help manage cloud and on-premises infrastructure security, audits, and industry compliance as well as operational monitoring of policy and process compliance

We’d like to review your application if you have…

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Hands on experience with infrastructure operations and architecture, including enterprise size cloud computing, converged infrastructure systems, and operational automation and management
  • Experience supporting and maintaining a large VMware environment
  • Experience supporting and maintaining at least two of the following technologies in a large environment: VMware, Windows Server, Citrix, Unix, Linux, Various Infrastructure Monitoring Tools such as SCOM, HP Openview, vROPs, GitHub, Ansible Tower etc
  • Experience in IaaC, PowerShell scripting and Terraform automation (coding)

  • The ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) to a wide variety of audiences including multi-functional teams at all levels

Preference for:

  • Hands-on cloud experience in large environments (Azure or AWS)
  • Experience migrating from traditional on-premises to cloud services
  • Demonstrated experience in automation using Ansible, Terraform, Azure ARM
  • Certification in Administration or Architecture for AWS or Azure
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

•    You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
•    Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the ability to be “on-call” 24/7 to support operational incidents and service level commitments on a rotation
