Co-op Student, Autonomous Haul Systems

In this position, you will report to the manager and you will work with a team comprised of professional engineers and geologists focused on the Autonomous Haul Systems across our mining operations. You will gain valuable insight to the design and deployment planning and various other aspects of the work that we do.

Key Accountabilities

  • Build design plots and key autonomous haul system infrastructure identified as part of the mine plans
  • Participate in the development and modification of engineering control documents as well as assist with field studies and evaluations
  • Participate in the gathering and compiling of reports and stewardship
  • Analyze data and information to understand incidents and the integration with the system functionality for implementation as well as being responsible for data integrity
  • Perform version upgrades and integration when required

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Previous experience within a mining or dispatch environment is ideal
  • Currently enrolled in a formal co-op program in a mining, geology or other systems related engineering program at an accredited post-secondary institution, and returning to full-time studies after the work term
  • Attach your transcripts with your application and clearly indicate the length of work term for which you are available

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Demonstrated understanding of SQL Server, Modular Dispatch System and MineScape is an asset
  • Proven understanding and strong attention to detail in working with data and ability to recognize patterns
  • Ability to expect accountability: you hold co-workers accountable and expect them to do the same
  • Exceptional collaboration skills: you collaborate in order to achieve the best results and determine the best outcome

Working Conditions

  • This is an 8-12 month work term, from January 2019 – December 2019
  • You will work out of our head office in Calgary, Alberta at the Suncor Energy Centre
  • Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible candidates
