Job Overview

Working with our technology development team responsible for the tailings PASS/ADW technology, you will collate and interpret process and deposit data, and develop a database for easy data retrieval. You will gain valuable exposure to slurry mechanics, in-line and offline measurement of slurry behaviour and process modelling.

Key Accountabilities

  • Collate data collected from process testing at our pilot and commercial scales into a database
  • Analyze process and deposition data from instruments
  • Conduct statistical analysis and model training, and build weekly summary reports

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education

  • Ideally you have completed basic engineering fluid or soil mechanics and material science
  • Currently in the 3rd or 4th year, of an engineering or applied science program at an accredited university
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution, and returning to full-time studies after the work term
  • Attach your transcripts with your application in order to be considered; clearly indicate the length of work term for which you are available

Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent flexibility in handling multiple tasks and priorities with strong attention to detail while working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills in the Microsoft office suite
  • You have a keen interest in non-Newtonian fluids behaviour
  • Programming in visual basic and python is an advantage as basic data analytics is required
  • Ability to think creatively and strong knowledge of relational databases
  • We value strong questioning and analytical skills since asking the right question is fundamental to finding the right solution
  • You constantly ask what could go wrong and check for out-of-the-ordinary conditions and learn to anticipate potential problems

Working Conditions

  • This is an 8-month work term, starting May 2018
  • Occasional travel to Fort MacMurray
