You will support project management and delivery within the corporate portfolio which currently includes Finance, Supply Chain, Field Logistics, Human Resources, Communications and Environmental Health and Safety. We will provide you with relevant and challenging work experiences directly involved in IT transformation initiatives. You will use your expertise to:

  • Support opportunity identification and delivery of technology initiatives and projects which are focused on improving safety and growing productivity
  • Work with the project managers to develop, maintain and update project delivery artifacts and reports focused on scope, schedule, costs and risk
  • Support team members during weekly and month-end processes and deadlines
  • Assist with consolidating information on schedule, budget and resources required for project reporting
  • Understand and support the corporate portfolio project delivery organization throughout all project stages in accordance with Suncor execution models
  • Support the project team with workshop and meeting preparation including development of materials, logistics setup and produce high quality and accurate outputs such as meeting minutes and action items
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects and initiatives assigned by the manager and/or other team members

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Current enrolment in a formal co-op or internship in 3rd or 4th year Commerce or Business Administration program at an accredited post-secondary institution, and returning to full-time studies after the work term

Preference for:

  • Understanding of oil and gas production and processing
  • Strong computer skills with intermediate to advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel (some experience with Microsoft Project would be beneficial)
  • A strong technology mindset with demonstrable operations and/or project management experience
  • The ability to handle multiple priorities in an exciting environment, with the ability to deliver on timelines
  • Extraordinary verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional collaboration skills that enables you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups
  • Especially organized, strong attention to detail and demonstrable analytical problem solving skills
  • An ability to learn new skills and work both independently and in a team environment
  • The ability to anticipate potential problems and check for out-of-the-ordinary conditions, as well as having a strong sense of accountability
  • A continuous improvement mindset and are able to seek greater knowledge and understanding of the systems, process and hazards in the workplace

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • This is an 8-12-month work term, from May 2019 – April 2020
