This position will be of interest to students planning to pursue a career in Renewable Energy. You will gain exposure to wind and solar power project planning, development and execution activities and will work in a multidisciplinary team of engineers, analysts and land agents allowing you to develop your professional skills and establish relationships with internal partners.   

Key Accountabilities

  • Preparing and maintaining maps of project lands
  • Working with a team to prepare bid packages for wind and solar power projects
  • Obtaining permits and approvals for project development
  • Assisting with the installation and maintenance of meteorological towers
  • Investigating new technologies
  • Performing technical studies and data analysis
  • Supporting project management activities
  • Exposure to field work

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Currently enrolled in a 4th year Engineering co-op program at an accredited post-secondary institution, and returning to full-time studies after the work term
  • Attach your transcripts with your application and clearly indicate the length of work term for which you are available
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills in the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, and a strong willingness to improve
  • Proficiency using ArcGIS is an asset
  • Exposure to land information system would be an asset

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Strong analytical skills and problem solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail while working in a dynamic environment
  • Strong collaboration skills, you collaborate with others in order to achieve the best results and deliver the best outcome
  • Possess a questioning attitude to surface problems, you constantly ask what could go wrong and check for out-of-the-ordinary conditions and learn to anticipate potential problems

Working Conditions

  • This position will be based in Calgary, AB for a 12 month work term, from September 2018 – August 2019
  • Some travel may be required
