In this position, you will be given the opportunity to develop your writing, communications coordination and essential communication planning skills, while being a key part of a dynamic, fast-paced team.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Coordinate and implement tactics on key communications tools such as the Core intranet pages, digital signage, spotlights and broad-distribution email accounts
  • Coordinate and assist with the planning and delivery of content and graphics for specific platforms
  • Support content strategy, marketing and research initiatives
  • Develop and support the implementation of communications plans for projects and initiatives as required
  • Provide general administrative support for team meetings, including agendas, minutes and technical support
  • Liaise with colleagues to support corporate-wide employee and sustainability programs and initiatives

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Prior experience with project and event planning
  • Strong writing, editing, content management and internal communication experience
  • Current enrollment in a formal co-op or internship program in 3rd or 4th year Communication, Marketing or Public Relations program at an accredited post-secondary institution, and returning to full-time studies after the work term

Preference for:

  • Advertising, marketing, web, or agency experience is an asset
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office suite as well as strong social media, video, photography and Adobe Creative Suite experience
  • Deep understanding of communication planning
  • Extraordinary verbal and written communication skills
  • Client service mindset with ability to deliver on timelines
  • Especially organized, strong attention to detail and problem solving skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities in an exciting environment
  • Strong collaboration skills that enables you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups
  • The ability to anticipate potential problems and check for out-of-the-ordinary conditions, as well as having a strong sense of accountability

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • This is an 8 – 12 month work term, from May 2019 – April 2020
