Job Overview

Reporting to the manager, operations western product supply, you will be responsible for maintaining the supply and quality of refined products from the Edmonton Refinery to terminals in the Pacific region. As part of the dynamic supply, trading and optimization team, you will develop, implement, and lead short term strategies that enable the optimization of Suncor’s integrated model from refineries to our customers while prioritizing safety.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure the optimized movement of refined products, including bio-fuels to the Pacific region’s distribution terminals, involving pipelines, rail, trucks, marine, 3rd parties and refineries; managing risk based decisions, logistical upsets, quality issues, and refinery outages.
  • Drive accountability on terminal demand forecasts, inventory balances, 3rd party nominations, and contract imbalances through a variety of tools (SAP, Microsoft Excel, pipeline scheduling tools, etc.) including short and long term planning processes
  • Work closely with terminal operations, commercial, fuels quality, rail, and 3rd party companies to optimize both the export capabilities and pipeline nomination process including the quality specifications of each export
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize the lifting of product for the purchase, sale and exchange of products as well as enhancement of pipe line nomination strategies
  • Work with the Suncor Edmonton refinery, fuel quality, distribution, and rack forward teams to manage and resolve quality control issues both at the terminals and within the supply network
  • Work closely with accounting to complete month end processes and reconcile any outstanding inventory imbalances or discrepancies

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Five or more years of related experience within an integrated energy company
  • Operations and or field experience an asset
  • Post-secondary degree in business or engeering is preferred
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong SAP and Excel skills a requirement
  • Negotiation skills and clear, concise written and verbal  communication abilities
  • Time management and ability to adapt to competing demands and shifting priorities
  • Analytical and investigative skills to determine root cause and ensure  lessons learned and opportunities realized
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer focus in dealing with stakeholders
  • Non-authoritative leadership skills with the ability to influence effectively

Working Conditions

  • This position is located in Calgary, Alberta at the Suncor Energy Centre

This position works a standard work week with on-call requirements over the evenings and weekends
