This is a dynamic role where you will apply your knowledge of various project management techniques and use your leadership experience to deliver data management products to business teams. You will be responsible for coordinating the full-life cycle of product delivery including in taking and evaluating initiatives, exploring feasibility, and working with product teams on data design while ensuring all data governance policies and standards are met. If you have project delivery experience and thrive in a fast-paced agile environment this could be a great opportunity for you to help enable comprehensive self-serve data and analytics solutions into our organization.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Lead the opportunity development phase of the Enterprise Data delivery model
  • Participate in communication of data outputs with stakeholders acting as a bridge between business areas and data specialists
  • Share insights with business stakeholders and collect inputs to verify and iterate data analysis results, and articulate opportunities based on findings
  • Support data design decisions by taking relevant inputs from the business team and define a clear plan for the data product team
  • Support data product teams to validate assumptions, extract relevant insights and interpret outputs
  • Work with the business in keeping the backlog of data opportunities relevant and up to date for the product line and prioritize using defined criteria
  • Collaborate and lead various data vendor partners to support solution delivery
  • Ensure team members are motivated and engaged

We’d like to review your application if you have…

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Eight years’ experience in information/data management or data product delivery
  • Three years’ experience in a project or technical leadership capacity
  • Experience translating business-to-technical requirements, and vice versa in support of product improvement and stability
  • The ability to work with and manage business stakeholders, helping to guide and influence decisions that are aligned to business strategy
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Practice(s) or equivalent work experience
  • An understanding of project management methodologies and their application to data programs / projects
  • An understanding of Cloud Computing and Microsoft Power BI, to build data analysis products in support of a governed self- serve analytics model

Preference for:

  • Experience working with oil and gas/mining data sets and/or supporting functional (ERP), or Geotechnical data
  • Experience in consulting, preferably in data management, analytics, or product development
  • Knowledge of Design Thinking principles

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • Relocation support will be provided
