In this highly visible leadership role, you will be accountable for all user facing IT support services for the entire enterprise.  In this role, you will provide leadership and direction to an operational support team consisting of a joint team of Suncor employees, contractors and outsource personnel, focused on providing front line IT support that meets and exceeds service level and user experience expectations.   

You will use your expertise to:

  • Provide leadership to a team of service managers, technical leads, subject matter experts, and field support staff providing front line support services oversight, operational demand management, continuous improvement, and technology planning in support of global operations for 18000 Suncor personnel and contractors
  • Lead agile-based platform teams that own, manage, and operate our End User Device assets, and our Communication & Collaboration capabilities across the enterprise.
  • Lead the performance of onshore and offshore outsource teams to deliver on operational support outcomes based on agreed quality measures, reliability metrics, service levels, user satisfaction, and continuous improvement goals
  • Collaborate  with various Digital & IT teams (including our Network & Industrial teams, IT Shared Services teams, Cloud & Infrastructure teams, and our Digital Solution Delivery teams), provide people, service, and technical leadership in the development of IT Services strategy, particularly as is relates to strategic decisions or impacts to front line user support services
  • Be accountable for specific policy and process development, effectiveness monitoring and continuous improvement
  • Provide budget development and cost centre financial stewardship
  • Be responsible for building and maintaining effective relationships with key partners within the various IT Platforms and Operations teams, key business interfaces, and strategic vendors
  • Provide On call 24/7 support to critical infrastructure and ensure service level commitments are achieved

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • 15 years IT operations and IT project execution experience
  •  7 years expereince with  leading and managing teams
  • A Computer Science degree, or Technical College diploma 
  • Strong technical knowledge of call centre operations, help desk services and technologies (including AI and self help), personal productivity software (ie Microsoft O365), meeting room technologies, video conference and audio-visual systems, print devices and managed services
  • Broad technical knowledge of IT operations and user technologies including desktop computing, mobile computing, server / storage technologies, cloud services, Software as a Service (SaaS), networks, telephony, and messaging systems
  • Strong vendor management skills required to successfully negotiate and manage an outcome based outsource agreement or statement of work including service levels, stewardship reporting and escalation management
  • Strong conflict identification and resolution skills
  • Ability to work effectively with various sizes of highly focused and geographically dispersed teams

Preference for:

  • ITIL Foundation certification
  • Oil & Gas industry experience

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W. combined with remote work arrangements in response to COVID-19
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
