Inventory Reconciliation Analyst

As we’ve recently announced, we are moving our Toronto-area Downstream offices (which are focused primarily on refining and marketing) to Calgary, to ensure we remain competitive for the long-term and to better integrate our Downstream business with the rest of Suncor. This is an exciting opportunity for new team members to fill roles made available during this process and be part of our success in the future.

Are you a self-starter who is process oriented, possesses strong attention to detail and are you looking for a role you can take ownership of? If so, look no further! In this role, you will be responsible for inventory control at our terminal operations via pipeline, truck, rail and marine.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Perform investigations on product volume discrepancies between Toptech and SAP, and mitigate any environmental and product loss issues
  • Ensure accurate billing of products and volumes to our customers
  • Communicate daily with terminal staff regarding routine and unusual concerns
  • Identify, test and implement process improvements
  • Lead stock management for new products such as ethanol and biodiesel
  • Prepare and file reports on a daily, monthly and quarterly basis
  • Follow appropriate internal and SOX audit processes for inventory accounting
  • Manage customer accounts, carriers, and products in our designated TopTech rack system
  • Interact with cross-functional departments such as marketing, credit, and supply accounting

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Three years of experience in accounting or related field
  • A self-starter who takes the initiative to trouble-shoot and solve problems as they arise
  • Strong collaboration skills that enables you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
  • Strong attention to detail, are well organized and do not tolerate shortcuts
  • Alignment with our values: safety above all else, stronger together, operational discipline, curiosity and lifelong learning, and act with integrity

Preference for:

  • Bilingual (English and French) – please submit your resume in English
  • Oil and gas industry experience
  • A post-secondary education
  • Previous SOX, SAP, and Toptech experience

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
  • We require qualified and safety-focused employees for business-critical roles that maintain our commitment to operational excellence and reliable operations.
