Land Administration Student

In this role you will be given the opportunity to work on projects within surface, third party and mineral land as delegated. We will give you the chance to work alongside talented land professionals while giving you hands-on experience.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Process 3rd party assignment documentation, ensuring contract requirements are met
  • Administer simple contract obligations, maintenance of land/joint venture files and inputting of contract data into the land records system
  • Interpret selected contracts to confirm interests, accounting rates, royalties and other routine administration issues
  • Draft relatively simple land/joint venture agreements using precedent forms
  • Build contacts with counterparts in other organizations
  • Notify accounting of changes to Division of Interest etc.

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Current enrolment in a diploma or degree program in Petroleum Land Administration or Energy Asset Management or a related program at an accredited post-secondary institution
  • (Attach your transcripts with your application and indicate your work term availability)
  • Pursuing a Petroleum Land Administration Advanced Certificate, Land Contracts Extension Certificate and/or a Petroleum Joint Venture Administrator or Petroleum Joint Venture Analyst Extension Certificate
  • Previous knowledge or training in specific phases of and Land and/or Joint Venture contracts and/or administrative functions
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing

Preference for:

  • Skills in the use of relevant software such as, QBLM, Petrolab, Accumap, ISC, SPIN 2 and AbaData
  • Familiarity with industry documentation (CAPL/CAPLA precedents, operating procedures, and PASC etc.)
  • Understanding of the implementation of land agreement precedents
  • Strong collaboration skills that enables you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups
  • The ability to anticipate potential problems and check for out-of-the-ordinary conditions, as well as having a strong sense of accountability

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • This is a 4-month work term, from May 2019 – August 2019
