Job Overview

Are you passionate about joining a dynamic team in Calgary to support a groundbreaking project across the entire Human Resources (HR) business unit? Reporting to the Director, Human Resources Systems and Integration, you will lead multiple integrated teams in all aspects of HR application planning, design, build, deployment and sustainment. This role is a key full-time project role supporting our HR transformation program – HR Next. HR Next is a multi-year program to transform all aspects of the HR function, inclusive of policy, program design, organization, technology, process, people and data, to support a redefined enterprise talent proposition.

You will provide leadership to separate but interdependent teams focused on two applications: ServiceNow and SAP/SuccessFactors. Both teams will include HR, IT and external project resources, and you will have overall accountability for the effective execution of project deliverables with the support of an HR project manager.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the HR technology work stream of HR Next, including ServiceNow and the Human Capital Management system
  • Represent the HR function on the enterprise ERP project team, ensuring HR perspective and interests are represented at the enterprise level
  • Provide leadership to IT project and technical resources, translating HR transformation principles and objectives into project deliverables and outcomes
  • Manage the HR Functional and Integration Lead and ServiceNow Business Lead to ensure HR functional requirements are well documented and understood, and that HCM solutions are designed to be highly integrated, and deliver the strategic objectives and have simple and delightful user experiences
  • Understand the HR Next vision and roadmap and translate into ServiceNow and core HCM system product roadmap
  • Lead stakeholder engagement to understand business requirements and translate into technical solution designs
  • Lead large, complex integrated teams comprised of HR functional subject matter experts, business analysts and process owners, and technical resources from IT projects
  • Ensure integration of business processes across applications, ensuring an optimal employee experience
  • Collaborate with HR and IT operational teams to manage change processes and ensure alignment
  • Responsible for the platform-wide scope of HCM applications inclusive of core HCM, time, workforce planning, performance management, career and development, succession planning, compensation, payroll, recruiting, onboarding, benefits, and learning
  • Accountable for the platform-wide scope of ServiceNow application inclusive of case management, business process, omni-channel intake, knowledge and architecture with other applications
  • Ensure application designs result in high adoption and that user experience meets strict usability standards as defined by UX maturity model and employee experience guiding principles

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Minimum seven years’ experience leading operational and/or project teams supporting HR applications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Information Science; preference for an MBA or other relevant graduate degree
  • Experience implementing ServiceNow and cloud HCM applications (Success Factors, Oracle Cloud, Workday) is strongly preferred
  • Preference for a background in SAP (R/3)
  • Experience implementing HR technology using hybrid-agile and agile project management methodologies

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated effectiveness in leading large, diverse teams and building strong, positive relationships
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
  • Proven analytical skills and application of results with the ability to translate customer needs into business requirements
  • Strong conflict identification and resolution skills
  • Effectively able to work with various sizes of highly focused and geographically dispersed teams, both functional and technical
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills at both a technical and business level
  • You are able to function effectively under the stress of conflicting priorities and deadlines
  • You have an excellent continuous improvement mindset
  • You have solid experience translating HR programs into technical requirements
  • You have a demonstrated ability to influence others and translate vision into action

Working Conditions

  • The role is based out of our Calgary location with occasional travel expected between locations
  • The nature of the role requires you to be available to work periods of non-standard hours, and periods of long days during key project phases (design, testing, cutover and deployment)
  • The role will experience short periods of high stress levels
