Digital Product Owner for Mobile Apps

Do you enjoy solving ambiguous problems and driving results for your client group? The Advisor, Digital Product Owner – Mobile Apps is a business subject matter expert for Retail Consumer facing mobile apps for the Petro-Canada brand.  You will be responsible for defining the mobile app digital product’s capabilities and features based on product’s overall vision and customer experience. As the point person on a cross-functional team, you will use your business knowledge and product subject matter expertise to define goals and create a vision for mobile app development projects. You will be involved in developing the future state vision and product roadmap staying current in an evolving market of mobile app development and customer features.

 

You will use your expertise to:

  • Manage the entire mobile app digital product lifecycle
  • Influence the outcome the future state for a specific system or application
  • Identify projects and opportunities to add value
  • Understand and anticipate trends for the product, competitive activities and opportunities in the marketplace
  • Liaise with end users continuously to provide support and ensure the product roadmap meets expectations
  • Anticipate customer needs and provide value-added stakeholder solutions
  • Develop and evaluate clear processes and procedures
  • Prioritize needs and communicate with the end users of the product
  • Balance operational break fix requirements with enhancements and innovation opportunities daily
  • Product owners are responsible for communicating with stakeholders, including customers, business managers, and the development team to make sure the goals are clear, and the vision is aligned with business objectives
  • Identify and proactively manage risk for managed project scope to appropriate levels of project and senior leadership for action or awareness
  • Manage product budget to drive highest value for organization
  • Be obsessed with customer experiences and drive continuous improvement to meet these needs
  • Drive towards new efficient ways of working everyday

 

We'd like to review your application if you have...

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • University degree in Business or related discipline
  • Previous experience in development and deployment of IT technologies specifically related to mobile app design and development
  • Previous experience in digital product management, agile execution, and user centric design
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts with multiple stakeholders in a clear and concise manner
  • Strong business acumen to translate how technology enables business value and related costs, benefits and risks
  • Advanced facilitating and negotiation skills with ability to lead integrated teams to value-add decisions
  • Alignment with our values: safety above all else, stronger together, operational discipline, curiosity and lifelong learning, and act with integrity

Preference for:

  • Knowledge or experience with designing and building retail mobile apps
  • Experience executing and applying user centric design to mobile app development
  • Knowledge and/or experience in agile project, product or technology management an asset

 

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
