Our Supply, Trading and Optimization (ST&O) team is looking for someone to  initiate, develop, and implement short term strategy and tactics involving Suncor’s regional supply operations. In this role, your ultimate goal is to coordinate the flow of refined products from Suncor’s refineries to ensure uninterrupted supply at terminals, balance inventories, and constantly prioritize safety in all aspects of supply.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Understand and optimize Suncor’s logistics network in order to meet marketing demands, execute 3rd party agreements, and to provide recommendations on logistics solutions
  • Maintain a consolidated view of our inventory forecast and prepare operational files for refinery short term estimation
  • Operate inventory positions at product terminals and enforce commercial lift limits
  • Oversee the compliance and operation of third party product supply agreements (such as exchange, terminalling, purchase, or sale), including sending/receiving nominations and limit management
  • Participate in short- and long-term planning process and manage large amounts of data
  • Track customer performance and negotiate with third parties to ensure smooth supply operation
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments (refineries, fuels quality, distribution, rail, marine, accounting) as well as external partners (pipelines companies, inspectors, third party counterparts)
  • Prepare and submit, according to strict schedule, nominations allowing for Suncor utilization of common carrier space
  • Respond appropriately and decisively to unexpected supply events and circumstances as they develop

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • 3 or more years of related experience
  • Knowledge of refining, supply, distribution, and product quality
  • A post-secondary education in business, accounting or engineering
  • Negotiation skills and clear, concise written and verbal communication abilities
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to adapt to competing demands and shifting priorities
  • Analytical and investigative skills to determine root cause and ensure lessons learned and opportunities realized
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer focus in dealing with stakeholders
  • Non-authoritative leadership skills with the ability to influence effectively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and SAP
  • Alignment with our values: safety above all else, stronger together, operational discipline, curiosity and lifelong learning, and act with integrity

Preference for:

  • Refined Products experience
  • Operations and/or field experience
  • Experience with CXL

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs; on-call in the evenings and/or weekends
  • Relocation support will be provided
  • You thrive in a dynamic work environment with multiple priorities, challenging demands, and strict deadlines
  • Work can be stressful due the high demand placed on your time by many internal and industry personnel requiring resolution or recommendations on operational problems.
