Program Lead, Renewable Liquid Fuels

Job Overview

Do you want to be part of a new and exciting group dedicated to researching, discovering, justifying and delivering new technologies that support our corporate initiative to reduce Carbon intensity in our processes and products? Reporting to the manager, renewables liquid fuels enterprise technology, you will be responsible for the development of new and disruptive technologies for producing fuels out of non-fossil fuel alternatives.

Key Accountabilities

  • Assist in the development and preparation of business cases for technology development activities in the area of renewable liquid fuels
  • Support the advancement of technologies as per our Technology Development Standard
  • Synthesize technical reports documenting the identification, screening, and evaluation of technologies
  • Influence external innovation and research community to surface opportunities
  • Collaborate and communicate with senior management and external partners, throughout the execution of technology development activities
  • Focus on technologies (with an enterprise-wide scope) with deployment opportunities in existing and future assets outside of oil sands
  • Manage activities with collective budget of up to $5 million annually

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Eight or more years of relevant work experience in the oil and gas industry, with exposure to renewable energy research and development (R&D) or technology development
  • You have experience in renewable energy processes (associated to production or renewable liquid fuels)
  • You have a chemical or mechanical engineering degree; advanced degree (M.Sc. or equivalent, or PhD) is considered an asset
  • APEGA Professional Engineer or eligible for APEGA membership

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of project execution and coordination is a strong asset
  • Practical knowledge and exposure to  applying process engineering fundamentals (heat and material balances, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics) is preferred
  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team
  • You are a self-starter and maintain exceptional time management and organizational skills

Working Conditions

  • Based on business need, infrequent local and international travel may be required
