Project Lead, Data & Analytics

Do you influence others with this mindset and inspire it across dynamic teams? If so, then we have an opportunity for you to work in a fast-paced and exciting environment with challenging demands in our downstream business (which includes our Petro-Canada retail/wholesale network, distribution and refining areas). Your work will directly impact the broader organization and drive significant business decisions, enable us to build a world-class data program, and advance telemetry pipelines responsible for billions of events a day.
You will use your expertise to:

  • Lead technical and Development teams to ensure adherence to the defined solution architecture, corporate standards, and industry best practices in the delivery of projects
  • Interpreting business outcomes requirements and implement leading edge and cost effective solutions
  • Facilitate sessions to collaborate with partners, gain a common view of business process and requirements and develop the proposed solution
  • Execute and communicate status and roadblocks using our project tools to ensure deliverables and deadlines are met in our fast-paced customer driven project environments
  • Use modern visualization tools, databases, and networking solutions to contribute to business strategy
  • Provide appropriate recommendations to overcome infrastructure-specific roadblocks
  • Contribute new ideas to drive continuous improvement in the future of cloud and Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • Conduct continuous improvement analysis on existing technology and its ability to support the business requirements
  • Lead the planning and implementation of integration between projects and initiatives
  • Build positive relationships to understand business challenges and opportunities

We'd like to review your application if you have...
Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Completed post-secondary education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related discipline
  • 5 or more years’ experience leading technical (data, digital) projects
  • 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience with cloud solutions (AWS, Azure) especially with MS Azure, focusing on data ingestion processes (e.g. Data Factory, Azure Event Hub, Databricks)
  • Experience in creating/architecting solutions for cloud (Azure/AWS/GCP) through design, delivery, and maintenance phases
  • Knowledge of cloud-based architecture solutions, web and mobile based applications, and interface/integration development tools
  • Experience migrating on-premise to cloud
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Power BI or other dashboarding /reporting tools such as Tableau, Business Objects BI suite
  • Experience in an Agile environment and strong understanding and knowledge of project methodologies and fundamentals including scope, time, budget, risk, quality, integration, resource management, etc.
  • Ability to integrate with highly complex, senior cross functional teams across security (IT and OT), data, privacy and digital risk
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills at both a technical and business level, and the ability to build positive relationships with highly dispersed and dynamic teams
  • Experience with Jira or similar Agile project management tools

Preference for:

  • PMP and Agile experience in retail, distribution, banking, loyalty industries
  • Experience with the design, development, and integration of databases (e.g. Oracle DB, Mongo, SQL)

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
  • We require qualified and safety-focused employees for business-critical roles that maintain our commitment to operational excellence and reliable operations.
