Senior Advisor, Business Development

You will use your expertise to:

  • Identify and develop key crude and refined product business opportunities in the midstream business that leverage our investments and add value to our commodities across North America
  • Lead commercial activities through each stage of the project, with the help of a robust cross-functional team of subject matter experts
  • Frame and identify issues that may, either separately or cumulatively, derail the business development opportunity and create strategies to positively mitigate these challenges and persevere
  • Examine a host of different investment opportunities and determine which truly add value and are appropriate and realistic to continue pursuing

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • 15 years of experience developing business opportunities for liquid hydrocarbons (oil, gas, butane, propane) or petrochemicals
  • A Bachelor’s degree, preferably within commerce or science
  • A strong understanding of business economics, market dynamics and netbacks
  • A creative and inquisitive mind that is not derailed by obstacles along the way
  • Strong collaboration and social skills that enable you to build strong, positive relationships with internal resources and partners in order to efficiently propel projects forward
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to clearly and effectively communicate with peers and senior leaders
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing

Preference for:

  • An MBA

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W. or out of our Downstream head office in Mississauga, located at 2489 North Sheridan WayHours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, however, flexibility is needed during intense activity periods
  • As needed, you will travel to our different trading offices across North America, or wherever new business opportunities may be located
