Senior Advisor, Pensions

Job Overview

Reporting to the manager, pensions for Canada and our international business, in this temporary position, you will collaborate with the pension team to provide technical support of our pension and savings programs within this complex business environment.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure the administration of Suncor’s pension and savings programs are delivered in compliance with plan requirements, pension and tax legislation to discharge our fiduciary responsibilities as the plan administrator
  • Support the monitoring and audit of pension and savings providers ensuring standards are met and costs are monitored and controlled.
  • Provide performance analysis, stewardship reporting, variance analysis and perform audits for key pension programs and processes
  • Provide technical and project support to the pension team to meet year end and statement compliance requirements.
  • Provide internal consulting to support key stakeholders groups
  • Provide technical input to the development of global pension and savings plan projects and deliverables
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives ensuring that all changes exceed regulatory requirements

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Minimum ten years in pension administration experience is required
  • Detailed understanding of the delivery of registered, supplemental pension plans and savings plans within a corporate environment
  • Bachelor degree, preferably with a finance or human resources background
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

Skills and Knowledge:

  • You are able to integrate and understand issues from various sources and resolve, including managing many internal and external practices, systems and processes
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, SAP and pension software is an asset
  • Strong project management and excellent time management skills
  • You have a deep understanding of pension and labour regulations/ Standards across Canada
  • You are a highly motivated self-starter, an independent worker with the ability to lead projects and manage priorities related to deadlines and workflow
  • You collaborate with others in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value

  • This is a 6 month temporary position
