Senior Advisor Consumer Research

Our Customer Experience Insights team is responsible for representing customer data and customer voice in a wide range of strategic and tactical decisions.  Working with colleagues across Sales & Marketing, we’ll call on your expertise to support the future of our Petro-Points loyalty program, our convenience retailing, fuel and car wash business, email communications, offers, promotions and more.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Represent the voice of our retail and wholesale customer, using market research to support Brand Marketing category and business objectives
  • Evaluate retail campaigns and communications both pre and post launch
  • Deliver key insights to continuously improve marketing and sales programs
  • Participate in strategic projects, keeping the voice of the customer at the forefront
  • Deliver key insights to support market research, segmentation and analytics, uncovering actionable ‘so what’ insights to guide business strategy and decisions
  • Utilize market research software tools to author, program and execute research studies
  • Assist in the development and evaluation of the annual retail campaign calendar, as well as campaign messaging and testing of communications creative
  • Complete research projects to support our strategic priorities

We’d like to review your application if you have…

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • 10 years of quantitative market research experience preferred, qualitative experience an asset
  • Experience with statistical software packages such as SPSS, R, or similar tools
  • Experience liaising with business owners to understand project objectives to design and execute market research plans while considering budget and resource constraints
  • Experience presenting findings and recommendations from market research in a comprehensive and focused manner
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Master of Business Administration (MBA)  or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated mastery of market research methodologies and practice, including survey writing, sampling methodology, survey programming, deployment and analysis
  • Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills with a high degree of comfort in working with market research data, including statistical analysis
  • The ability to maintain research panel health through survey deployment management, panel engagement and the management of incentives.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to filter and translate study results into insights
  • Excellent presentation skills, adapting results into presentations and lead workshops when required.
  • Proficient time management and project management skills to manage a steady volume of analytical projects and tight timelines

Preference for:

  • Subject matter expert experience with Qualtrics Research XM software or similar market research platform for programming and deploying surveys

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
  • We require qualified and safety-focused employees for business-critical roles that maintain our commitment to operational excellence and reliable operations.
