In this role, you will use your digital analytics skills to impact business results in one of Canada’s largest retailers – we serve hundreds of thousands of customers each day, and Petro-Points is one of Canada’s largest loyalty programs.  You will support customer facing web sites in retail and wholesale channels, as well as our mobile app.  The role offers the opportunity to lead digital analytics strategy and design, while also keeping close to data and dashboards as you support our most visible and busiest digital properties.  The role offers a unique opportunity to build awareness and educate business owners and leadership teams about opportunities and issues in the digital space.

Our Customer Experience Insights team is responsible for representing customer data and customer voice in a wide range of strategic and tactical decisions.  Working with colleagues across Sales & Marketing, we’ll call on your expertise to support the online evolution of our Petro-Points loyalty program, our convenience retailing, fuel and car wash business, email communications, offers, promotions and more.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Lead the digital analytics strategy, design and execution for Petro-Canada branded websites and apps
  • Provide key measurement frameworks, dashboards, and analytical insights that promote data-driven business decisions for Suncor’s most visible and highest trafficked web and mobile digital properties
  • Manage the development of end-to-end digital analytics solutions that answer key business questions, from the creation of measurement frameworks through to data visualization
  • Partner with marketing communications, the web team and business owners to identify strategic and tactical opportunities for planning and enhancement of content, functionality, search optimization, tagging process, and user experience
  • Lead retail web and mobile app analytics to develop measurement strategies and tactics to steward Petro-Canada web properties, including e-commerce, transactional and lead generation functionality

We’d like to review your application if you have…

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Eight years of experience in digital (web and app) marketing analytics, with a focus on designing, implementing and maintaining evidence and insights programs to measure the effectiveness of major consumer facing digital properties 
  • Five years of experience with web and app analytics tools (we use GA360/GA4 and Firebase)
  • Five years of experience leading digital analytics implementations through utilization of tag management tools (we use Google Tag Manager)
  • Experience managing digital analytics for eCommerce and lead-generation websites and apps (B2C and B2B properties)
  • Extensive experience with data visualization techniques and building digital dashboards (we use Google Data Studio)
  • Extensive experience with digital measurement and usability tools (we use Semrush and Hotjar)
  • Experience designing and building analytics implementations with a focus on reliability, scalability, performance and compliance
  • Adept data storytelling skills with experience synthesizing complex concepts into clear insights and recommendations
  • Strategic thinking skill with the ability to translate business/communications objectives into measurable on-line goals
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills in a highly collaborative environment to gain alignment between technology, business, communications functions and leaders
  • The ability to provide data driven, actionable recommendations for website and app improvements to maximize ROI, optimize business results, and improve user experience
  • The ability to influence leader thinking about the growing value of the web and app through data-driven, customer-centric insights

Preference for:

  • Knowledge and experience with GA360/GA4, Firebase, Google Tag Manager, Google Data Studio, Search Console, Google Ads, Semrush and Hotjar

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
