Senior Analyst Finance and Planning

You have strong reporting and analytical skills that you can use to support the Supply, Trading and Optimization (ST&O) business unit. You will provide financial analysis, performance reporting and planning services to a very dynamic, complex and evolving part of the business responsible for the supply and optimization of refined products in Canada.

There are two positions related to this posting. One Senior Analyst role supporting the Product Supply business and one Senior Analyst role supporting refinery margin analysis.

You will use your expertise to:
• Prepare monthly performance management reports for the ST&O business and finance stakeholders, effectively communicating economic performance, strategies and drivers
• Perform monthly financial forecasting for Refineries & Product Supply in addition to annual budget and business planning deliverables
• Work closely with Marketers, Traders, Middle Office, and refinery optimization specialists to understand and translate key planning assumptions into the financial forecasts and budgets
• Assist in the evaluation of the Midstream operating segment including application of transfer prices, key performance indicators (KPIs), and commercial value add (CVA) translating the financial and operating performance results
• Assist in the implementation of SAP Analytics Cloud for Planning (SAC-P) to support Enterprise wide forecasting requirements for midstream
• Understand key business value drivers and performance metrics providing insight to the business
• Identify and work with others on continuous improvement, ad-hoc initiatives and non-routine requests for financial information and analysis
• Adapt to changes in pricing, forecasting and variance analysis tools and create new or revise existing models, report, or queries in various applications to meet business requirements

Must-haves (minimum requirements):
• Completed a financial designation or equivalent (CPA, CFA, and/or MBA)
• Undergraduate degree in engineering, business or economics
• Proficiency in Power BI and Excel and other Microsoft Office programs
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships
• A solid understanding of basic financial and accounting principles
• Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills to translate complex subject matter to concise messages for a variety of stakeholders
• Proven analytical skills and a continuous improvement mindset with the ability to communicate complex information into meaningful insights
• Naturally curious and are able to ask the right questions that will help shape strategy
• Self-starter, work well in a dynamic environment, comfortable with ambiguity
• Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset

Preference for:
• Experience in a Finance and Planning role within the energy industry
• Experience with and a solid understanding of SAP fundamentals
• Experience with TriplePoint Commodity XL
• Experience with Business Intelligence tools and modelling
• Energy Risk Professional certification

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:
• You will work out of our Calgary, Alberta office
• Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
