Senior Business Development Advisor (Planning)

We are building a brand new team within our Supply, Trading and Optimization group that is focused on finding new business opportunities and managing attractive midstream acquisition projects. If you have a knack for being a gate-keeper of process and timelines, project development governance, resource planning and holding people accountable to utilizing structured business approaches, we need you.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Support projects through implementation, maturation and continuous improvement processes
  • Facilitate the organization and execution of appropriate gate reviews
  • Organize and summarize projects, opportunities or support requests in order to be properly prioritized
  • Coordinate, track and report the progress of activities and required resources
  • Guide others to follow the appropriate governance and gate review process to help drive the right business development decisions
  • Ensure all development options are identified and screened properly

We’d like to review your application if you have…

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • 10 years of business planning or investment experience, with at least three of those years within the oil and gas industry
  • A Bachelor’s degree, preferably within commerce or science
  • A good understanding of business economics, market dynamics and netbacks
  • The ability to analyze work situations properly and resolve challenges with minimal supervision
  • The ability to apply technical knowledge to problem-solving and use your social and interpersonal skills to navigate through those challenges
  • Strong perseverance, and can push forward through constructive tension against governance and help drive positive change
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, however, flexibility is needed during intense activity periods
