Senior Communications and Engagement Advisor

You will use your expertise to:

  • Manage the development of the communication and engagement strategic plan encompassing all stakeholders and ensuring a coordinated company-wide perspective
  • Ensure sustainability leadership priorities are embedded in communications
  • Work within existing processes to synthesize and evolve messaging and develop content to be used across the organization
  • Help build and drive our purpose with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), and embed a renewed Suncor purpose into the organization
  • Align with the people readiness team to determine, lead, and support engagement activities to align leaders and employees
  • Partner with the communications team and the Transformation Management Office (TMO) to pilot and/or support the implementation of transformative communication tools and channels
  • Use internal and external research to align and evolve messaging, in alignment with Suncor’s narrative and messaging

We’d like to review your application if you have…

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Eight years of communications or equivalent experience
  • A University degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business, or an associated field
  • Proven skills in strategic communications planning, consulting, project management, measurement and analysis, active listening, audience understanding, communications channels, new technologies and media, writing and editing
  • The ability to recognize the opportunity for content amplification across our other channels and adapt accordingly
  • Demonstrated competence with global perspective/cultural awareness, presentation and professional posture, brand and reputation
  • Expert ability to apply independent judgment, as well as collaborative thinking to make decisions related to your owned projects
  • Capability to balance multiple projects, deadlines and deliverables with grace and diplomacy
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing

Preference for:

  • A membership with a professional organization, peer group or a professional accreditation as applicable
  • Energy industry knowledge and an in-depth knowledge of Suncor

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • Irregular hours may be required for emergency on-call requirements and operations locations time zone differences
