Senior Maintenance Planner, Maintenance and Reliability Enablement

Job Overview

Reporting to the Lead, maintenance and reliability (M&R) business process, you will ensure all business processes related to M&R management are successfully implemented and sustained. You will provide structured SAP and M&R business process coaching for any Fort Hills personnel who participate in the work order lifecycle process. This role will work closely with maintenance execution, reliability, operations and supporting functions such as supply chain and finance to develop seamless interfaces between functions, to enable the safe, consistent and reliable planning and scheduling of all maintenance activities within Fort Hills.

This role is responsible for supporting Suncor’s Journey to Zero, championing Suncor’s values and the behaviours of operational discipline, driving continuous improvement and efforts to achieve world-class equipment performance, and ensuring that Suncor’s business objectives are met.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure relevant processes for the Fort Hills M&R function are simple, intuitive and effective in a way that develops strong, positive and trusted relationships across internal and external stakeholder groups
  • Steward the sustainment and improvement of maintenance business processes and related procedures to support a culture of accountability and does not sacrifice the long for the short term
  • Communicate and collaborate cross-functionally to build an environment that fosters high performance, innovation, learning and initiative
  • Be able to recognize gaps in the current business process structure, problem solve to determine improvements, and provide business cases for positive change
  • Empower end users to understand and engage in continuous improvement of their maintenance business processes
  • Facilitate the delivery of maintenance business process end-to-end learning and reference materials
  • Action feedback on maintenance processes, activities, and technology; explore opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Influence and educate planning and scheduling teams as well as maintenance and reliability teams without direct authority
  • Troubleshoot and problem-solve for maintenance planning and scheduling collaborates with other functions
  • Provide coaching and support for maintenance business process and SAP implementation

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • 8 - 10 years of experience in maintenance planning and scheduling and/or maintenance reliability in an industrial setting
  • Relevant trade certificate, diploma, or degree or equivalent technical and operational experience
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

 Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite; SAP and Livelink experience is an asset
  • Effective communicator with the ability to develop positive working relationships across a multitude of business units
  • Ability to take initiative and follow through on pending items through strong prioritization and organizational skills
  • Able to multi-task and be flexible in a fast-paced environment
  • You are a highly motivated self-starter with the ability to make decisions with integrity and support company objectives and policies
  • You hold others accountable, and expect others to do the same

Working Conditions

  • This position will initially be at the Fort Hills site for one to two years and will then transition to be based in Calgary, Alberta at the Suncor Energy Centre
  • The shift schedule is a 7 days on/ 7 days off rotation

Fort Hills, a joint venture between Suncor, Total, and Teck Resources, is the largest undeveloped oil sands mining asset in the region.
