Senior Project Controls Analyst

As Suncor continues the execution of projects within various business units, there is a requirement for a Project Controls (PC) Analyst as part of the Project Controls team within the Project Resources group. You will support our continued journey of advancing our analytic capabilities to drive better efficiency through the implementation of standardized processes and tools.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Understand current PC systems and procedures to implement and maintain control over technical quality of cost, schedule control and work performed
  • Provide guidance to project teams on PCs processes and input towards PC standards and procedures in the spirit of continuous improvement
  • Work with our external business partners to establish data requirements to support standard reporting
  • Collaborate with other business units to align processes, workflows and deliverables with various work groups
  • Maintain a high level of technical expertise within the PC systems and tools
  • Utilize our various approved software programs and networks to interface and communicate with all personnel
  • Perform advanced analytics on schedule, cost, and progress and performance data across various projects
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a standardized reporting tool that is being rolled out to various project teams
  • Participate in the implementation and refinement of standardized reporting templates and processes
  • Improve coding and reporting issues and provide recommendations on resolution based on sound analysis and judgement
  • Provide support to the home office and field based teams as necessary to maintain a cohesive multi-office environment

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Five years of related industry experience with a completed post-secondary education
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in knowledge of databases, Power BI, Microsoft Office, Primavera, Ecosys, and SAP
  • A proven understanding of project management and project controls principles
  • A continuous improvement mindset with strong analytical and decision-making capacity
  • Strong sense of ownership, with demonstrated interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • The ability to lead multiple and changing priorities under tight deadlines
  • Solid leadership and communication skills to interact with all functions and levels of leadership
  • The drive to innovate, challenge the status quo, and adapt to changing situations
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing

Preference for:

  • Direct field construction, EPC and owner experience

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • Travel may be required to work site and contractor office locations
