Job Overview

Reporting to the manager, rotating equipment in supply chain management, you will develop, implement and sustain company-wide sourcing strategies and their corresponding commercial arrangements for supply and repair of gas turbine equipment across Suncor. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the gas turbine portfolio within the rotating category that includes the development and implementation of supply strategies as well as the optimized tactical solutions for the provision of goods and services
  • Evaluate and develop recommendations for the commercial structures of contracts for supply of gas turbine equipment as well as the repair and operational excellence management services support for this equipment with new and existing suppliers
  • Develop, negotiate, and draft commercial agreements for the provision of goods and services consistent with articulated supply strategies
  • Ensure suppliers consistently deliver goods and services that meet business requirements and drive value for Suncor through the contractor performance management process
  • Monitor and collaborate to manage potential supplier cost, supplier availability, product quality and reliability risks to Suncor’s businesses

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • At least 10 years of related work experience in the power generation industry
  • Post-secondary degree in business, economics, law or engineering

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Excellent knowledge of gas turbine equipment
  • Understanding of power generation, oil sands mining/bitumen production, upgrading and refining processes
  • Advanced commercial and negotiation skills; you are able to influence and lead others
  • Superior analytical, business and financial acumen; you are able to balance both technical and commercial issues that arise
  • Ability to manage risks and make timely decisions
  • You possess exceptional communication skills both verbal and written
  • You are results oriented and able to drive both execution and accountability

Working Conditions

  • This position is located in Calgary, Alberta at the Suncor Energy Centre
  • Minimal travelling could be required within Canada and the U.S.
