Specialist, Mechanical Asset Performance Management

Job Overview

Reporting to the director, integrated operations centre development, you will work on the enterprise pilot project, focused on developing and implementing asset performance management (APM) for mechanical assets across our organization, as well as other exciting projects. You will be responsible for managing alerts, conducting analysis and investigation, managing cases and determining appropriate actions within the scope of the APM solution.

Key Accountabilities

  • Receive alerts on system and equipment abnormalities; validate and prioritize alerts, and monitor assets to support condition based maintenance
  • Provide case alert history to support root cause analysis lead by subject matter experts (SME’s)
  • Collaborate with SME’s including  vendors, cross-functional teams and tier three support
  • Manage escalation process as per APM workflow
  • Maintain situational awareness and access to the correct information required to conduct an investigation
  • Create business cases for areas of improvement and opportunity including: model creation and sustainment, policies and institutionalizing the knowledge from completed cases
  • Drive APM workflow for individual cases  and ensure all information is gathered and documented; manage APM governance
  • Capture value and key performance indicators for reporting to leadership
  • Initiate external workflows to address findings from case notifications
  • Complete effectiveness reviews

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Eight  to 10 years of experience as a rotating equipment engineer  working on rotating equipment including pumps and compressors
  • Exposure to oil and gas or a similar industry; hands on experience in an operating environment is preferred
  • Undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering, applied science or equivalent
  • Registered as a professional engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) is preferred
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Sound knowledge of more than one field of engineering is preferred
  • Ability to apply mature engineering knowledge to solve problems independently
  • Understanding of critical procedures, processes and mechanical equipment from an economic and safety perspective
  • Strong communication skills both oral and written
  • You collaborate with others in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
