Full Stack Web Developer

The web developer works in our Digital Web Experience team helping to create exceptional digital experiences for end-users.  This role is responsible for the front and back end functional technical support and development on the Sitecore Experience Platform, Coveo and related systems.  The web developer works closely with company-wide business and functional stakeholders to identify opportunities for enhancement and feature development on Suncor’s external website and search functionality.

You will use your expertise to:

•    Design, build, implement and test web sites and applications housed in the Sitecore WCMS
•    Generate thought leadership and contribute to best practices for Sitecore implementations
•    Work closely with clients, architects, subject mater experts, vendors, and contractors to understand business and system requirements to help design and deliver Sitecore enhancements and projects
•    Transform business requirements into technical design specifications by application modules, secure internal and client approvals as required, and ensure compliance and quality standards
•    Provide technical support during all phases of product delivery. This includes, but is not limited to, development of project estimates, solution design review, documentation creation, technical design specifications, review approvals, peer code revies and traceability matrices
•    Develop and test code changes made to existing business processes to ensure application changes are addressed to meet specific requirements

Must-haves (minimum requirements):
•    Educational background in computer science, information technology, or a related discipline
•    Minimum of 5 years web development experience
•    Knowledge of software engineering, front-end and back-end web development, cloud computing services, and SDLC
•    Knowledge of industry-standard DevOps Platform tools such as GitHub Actions, Docker, Kubernetes, Microsoft Azure, Typescript, React or Vue.js and Jira
•    Familiar with modern testing tools and frameworks like Selenium and Browserstack
•    Working knowledge of reporting tools like Datadog, Azure Sentinel and Lighthouse
•    Experience developing for WCGA 2.1 (AODA Web Accessibility-AA standard), W3C norms, XHTML and DOM

Preference for:
•    Sitecore and Coveo experience, including search personalization is preferred, but candidates with strong enterprise WCMS experience will be considered
•    Expertise with the Sitecore Experience Platform and Sitecore Managed Cloud
•    Hand on experience with content security practices and web content security policies
•    Web development experience with energy and/or retail companies
•    Experience with information architecture, experience design, SharePoint, Office M365, and/or measurement and analytics

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
