Senior Advisor, Sustainability

Job Overview

Reporting to the manager, sustainability integration, you will focus on the development and implementation of company-wide processes and tools that support the integration of environmental and social impact analysis into key business decision-making processes.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop the processes, tools and training needed to assess environmental and social impacts in the context of our business and provide support to build capability within the organization
  • Collaborate with internal peers and partners to identify and progress high priority areas and opportunities for integrating sustainability concepts into our systems and processes
  • Lead the development, implementation and adoption of environmental/social risk guidance documents and assessment tools that result in systematic, strategic and effective management of sustainability risk
  • Support integrated teams regarding environmental excellence and social impact work elements in our asset development and execution model
  • Support supply chain management in the sustainability evaluation of suppliers and contractors during the procurement process
  • Participate in strategic projects and establish robust, efficient processes to handle sustainability and communications key accountabilities and risks
  • Build capability with peers to assess lifecycle impacts to a broad range of internal and external partners
  • Document concepts and tasks into concise processes to allow for efficient application throughout the organization
  • Build organizational capacity to embed sustainability thinking deeper within the organization

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Eight or more years of industy experience 
  • Experience in environmental health and safety/regulatory, project development and execution, and/or supply chain management will also be considered
  • Experience working in a large and complex organization with operationally excellent processes, policies and guidelines is preferred
  • Bachelor degree in science, social science, business or other relevant field in environmental, stakeholder, community and/or regulatory management
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Professional certification or training in environmental and social impact assessment and risk management is an asset

Skills And Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of Aboriginal communities, indigenous peoples and/or ethnic minority groups within Canada or internationally
  • Knowledge of environmental and social policy and/or regulatory entities in Canada
  • Ability to translate both quantitative and qualitative elements of environmental and social impacts, risks and mitigations
  • You are able to work independently and as an effective team member across different geographic locations
  • Ability to lead, influence and/or work within cross-functional groups to reach common strategic and tactical approaches to integrating sustainability
