Extraction Engineer in Training

You will use your expertise to:

  • Provide engineering support to plant engineers in their ongoing performance monitoring and troubleshooting to meet the production plan
  • Support and carry out field level support such as temperature, and pressure surveys to support performance optimization and troubleshooting
  • Assist with technical data collection and calculations to evaluate plant performance
  • Support risk reviews for process related changes at site

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • A degree in Mineral Process Engineering or Chemical (Process) Engineering
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Registration with APEGA as an Engineer-In-Training, or eligibility to register within the province of Alberta
  • A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing

Preference for:

  • Industrial plant operational and production experience in an oil sands/SAGD/refinery and/or petrochemical facility and/or mineral processing facility in a co-op or internship capacity
  • Proven ability to use a continuous improvement mindset and the to seek greater knowledge collaboratively in the workplace
  • You collaborate with others to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office suite

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • This position will require regular travel to the Fort Hills site to support our on-site operation
