Job Overview

In this one year temporary position, you will be reporting to the manager, aviation strategy, and responsible for the support of our aviation operations safety management framework and quality assurance.

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for the Firebag aerodrome ramp ground handling, baggage management, check-in and gate/boarding processes
  • Monitor aviation charter providers and compliance to standard Suncor operating procedure or regulatory standards
  • Conduct audit assessments and corrective action quality review with aerodrome contractor
  • Coordinate incident investigation, documentation and corrective action effectiveness review with Suncor environment, health and safety (EH&S), applicable vendors and field logistics aviation team
  • Collaborate with senior advisor, safety management system and quality assurance aviation to prioritize tasks and audit schedules
  • Support annual safety and quality audit programs and schedules
  • Monitor corrective actions and flight safety trends
  • Disseminate flight safety-related information company-wide

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Minimum two years of internal or lead auditor experience in aviation (fixed wing, rotary, UAV, terminal operations)
  • Minimum one year of experience working with regulatory standards such as Transport Canada, NavCanada, etc.
  • International Air Transportation Association (IATA) certificate preferred
  • High school diploma or GED equivalency is required

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with safety management systems and tools in aviation preferred such as ENABLON
  • Knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations and Standards
  • A sound knowledge of commercial operations; in particular, rotary wing offshore and fixed-wing flight operations, procedures and activities
  • Knowledge of quality systems and quality processes in an aviation environment
  • Previous experience with management operating systems (OEMS) is an asset
  • You are a problem solver and work well in a dynamic environment, under tight deadlines and requirements
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to form positive relationships
  • You have exceptional attention to detail and take pride in quality assurance

Working Conditions

  • This is a one year temporary position based in Calgary at the Suncor Energy Centre
  • Up to 20% travel to Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo to conduct work activities (Aerodrome)
