Job Overview

Reporting to the manager, benefits Canada and International, in this temporary role you will be responsible for the interpretation of policies, guidelines and standards related to our benefits programs. You will ensure our benefits programs and systems are being administered in compliance with plan documents, contracts and government legislation for both domestic and international employees and expatriates.

Key Accountabilities

  • Work with other members of the benefits team to manage our benefits programs for active international employees and Canadian employees and retirees
  • Partner with our vendors and third party providers to escalate and resolve service issues or employee claims issues
  • Support ongoing management of benefit programs (e.g. disability, health and drug plan)
  • Review and assess the impact of legislative changes to determine any required or proactive changes and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Oversee the external benefits administration system and ensure the benefits properly reflect employee and retiree election choices, eligibility status, premiums and deductions
  • Report key benefits measures to assess effectiveness, program issues and external influences that would impact design as well as compliance and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Deliver the annual Canadian flex benefits annual enrolment including coordination with other stakeholders such as payroll, pension, communication and providers
  • Develop and deliver training to our advisors on changes and new processes and programs related to our benefit programs as well as human resources (HR) benefit polices
  • Administer the scholarship and service award programs

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education

  • Five or more years of experience delivering employer-sponsored benefit programs
  • Experience with a flexible benefits program in Canada
  • Extensive experience with disability management and international benefits is preferred
  • Undergraduate degree preferably with a major in human resources
  • Completion of your certified employee benefit specialist (CEBS) or your certified human resources professional (CHRP) is preferred

Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent computer skills with thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office and SAP
  • Strong knowledge of information systems and the interface between systems
  • Ability to collaborate and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Project management skills with an ability to manage and organize multiple priorities
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Working Conditions

  • This is a temporary role for approximately four months with the possibility of extension
