Web Initiatives and User Experience (UX) Advisor

Are you motivated to take on a key consulting role with Suncor’s business clients to create solutions using enterprise technologies such as Microsoft SharePoint, Office 365?   This role might be the one for you!   In facilitating the team to an agile/scrum approach, this position manages the Digital User Experience Design and Delivery (DXD) team's intake assigns tasks to other team members and works with diverse stakeholders to understand the client’s business needs, develop requirements and lead discovery and planning sessions to address business challenges through the creation of exceptional employee digital experiences.  As a subject matter expert ( SME) , you will use  the full range of UX /web best practice knowledge and understanding to determine / shape solutions, and interface with clients and stakeholders.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Lead and influence conversations with front-line and mid-level leaders around creating great digital experiences
  • Lead and facilitate workshops, work with BU/FN client groups across Suncor to understand their business challenges / objectives
  • Communicate with internal clients on project updates, added-value enhancements and process improvements
  • Work with DXD colleagues to lead discovery sessions with business stakeholders that uncover challenges and propose creative solutions to address them using enterprise tools such as Microsoft SharePoint, Office 365, ServiceNow and others
  • Collaborate with project and sustainment teams to optimize the user experience across digital workplace platforms
  • Perform hands-on work in content management systems (CMS), prototyping, analytics and other tools, while not the primary responsibility for this role, will be required as needed 
  • Work closely with DXD team to manage intake, budget, prioritization, scoping, timelines and to identify team and vendor resources necessary for the completion of initiatives
  • Participate in the emergency response rotation and other responsibilities, as assigned

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Six years of experience working in a client-facing role, helping create websites or intranets and implementing digital workplace solutions
  • A  Bachelor’s degree in business studies, business administration, management, information technology, new media, or a related discipline
  • Have subject matter expertise with of web / mobile and digital workplace technology, best practices and principles
  • Excellent account and web project management and communication skills with “hands on” web management experience
  • General knowledge of front-end and back-end digital ecosystems (e.g., user interface, responsive design, mobile accessibility, domain strategy, network security, etc.) and ability to interface with IT colleagues 
  • Hands on experience with web content management systems (WCMS) such as SharePoint
  • Experience creating functional requirements documentation and working closely with development teams
  • Effective interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communication skills

Preference for:

  • Experience with information architecture, experience design, Office 365, measurement / analytics, knowledge of / experience in a scrum master role and familiarity with Agile methodology are all assets

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W. combined with remote work arrangements in response to COVID-19
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
