Pipeline Project Coordinator

Currently we are looking for a passionate, hands-on and self-motivated professional who will join our dynamic team and lead the implementation of Capital and Major Maintenance projects for Suncor.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Provide coordination and oversight for pipeline and facility projects while making key project decisions, safety performance, and quality management of contractor work products
  • Develop project Request for Quotations (RFQ), cost estimates, execution plans and scopes of work while identifying environmental and safety risks
  • Oversee the compilation of project regulatory documentation according to pre-established document checklists
  • Ensure Federal regulatory requirements are met as well as industry codes and company policies for each project
  • Lead operational readiness reviews for completed projects and coordinate project pre-safety start-up reviews
  • Build strong positive relationships with construction management personnel to validate project progression against budget and schedule
  • Participate in incident investigations and emergency response drills
  • Use your continuous improvement mindset to improve our planning and execution phases through lessons learned or other processes

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Five years of oil and gas industry experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills that enables you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups
  • Knowledge of project management software including Microsoft Project and/or Primavera
  • A valid driver’s licence with a driving record acceptable to Suncor
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing

Preference for:

  • Experience working for an Owner, Contractor or Pipeline organization managing project from development to execution
  • A Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or working towards your designation
  • The aptitude to understand construction scope of work documents, read and interpret engineering construction specifications and drawings as well as knowledge of construction sequencing, critical path method and request for information (RFI) processes
  • The ability to work in a multidisciplinary, integrated team environment and build positive relationships
  • Strong trouble-shooting and analytical skills with a continuous improvement mindset

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Cheyenne District Office, located at 1715 Fleischli Parkway (when not on site managing projects)
  • Significant driving distances to/from remote construction sites within a 100 mile radius of Cheyenne
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs and on-call support
  • You thrive in a dynamic environment with multiple priorities, challenging demands, and deadlines
