Come and join the team at our Commerce City refinery where we produce gasoline, diesel fuel and paving-grade asphalt. Reporting to the cross-functional infrastructure team lead, you will assist our crafts in the mitigation, removal, or replacement of hazardous products from the refinery.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Operate large mobile cranes and boom trucks
  • Operate forklifts, man lifts, and backhoes occasionally
  • Interact effectively with all other craft groups, operators and various contractors
  • Perform work as per safety procedure and policies

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Five or more years of experience operating mobile cranes in a similar industry
  • Current Crane Operator Certification for Hydraulic Cranes (NCCCO)
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Zero tolerance for shortcuts and if the procedure is incorrect, you fix it and constantly ask what could go wrong and learn to anticipate potential problems
  • Possess a valid Class A commercial driver’s licence with a driving record acceptable to Suncor
  • Alignment with our values: safety above all else, stronger together, operational discipline, curiosity and lifelong learning, and act with integrity

Preference for:

  • Knowledge of industry standard safe rigging practices
  • Familiarity with refinery operations

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Commerce City refinery, located at 5801 Brighton Blvd.
  • The shift schedule is 5 x 8 hour days or 4 x 10 hour days nights and weekends dependent on plant needs
  • You must pass a series of job skills tests with a composite score of at least 80%, which include communication skills, math and crane-specific questions
  • Overtime may be required based on business needs
