Terminal Operator, Truck Crude

Job Overview

Reporting to the supervisor crude truck terminal you will be responsible for day to day operation and maintenance of the crude unloading docks.

Key Accountabilities

  • Verify safety and function of all crude unloading docks through daily facility walk downs and checking for abnormal conditions
  • Train drivers on procedures and expectations
  • Inspect and repair, as needed, any maintenance items to keep docks in good working order
  • Manage inventory for critical spares and replacement parts
  • Provide repair assistance on pumps, piping, and meter proving
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly and annual PM checks per schedule
  • Randomly sample and check water and sediment content of crude deliveries to verify quality and record results
  • Ensure proper operation of the water separator through visual inspections, draining of excess water, scheduling pump outs as needed, and weekly testing of brine solution
  • Perform safety observations to ensure compliance with PPE requirements, and safety and unloading procedures; halt work if unsafe conditions are present

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Previous oil experience preferred
  • Light tractor operator experience is preferred
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Possess a valid driver’s licence with a driving record acceptable to Suncor

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Basic mechanical knowledge of pumps, motors, switch gear
  • Basic understanding of crude truck transport operation including unloading of crude oil
  • Basic computer skills are required, knowledge of Word and Excel

Working Conditions

  • This position has been identified as safety sensitive
  • This position is overtime eligible
  • Outdoor work in all types of weather is required
  • This position requires standing for extended periods of time
