As the Terminal Electrical Specialist, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our assets while contending with uncontrollable factors such as weather, equipment outages and product supply.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Participate in our Journey to Zero safety initiative by leading safety initiatives on site and supporting front line initiatives, regulatory compliance as well as emergency response
  • Oversee facility product quality and efficient receipt, storage, handling, and loading of refined products in a dynamic 24/7/365 operating environment
  • Responsible for internal electrical and mechanical inspections and incident reporting and investigations
  • Build positive relationships with diverse groups of internal and external partners to improve workflow and communication
  • Ensure appropriate information gathered to assist in the decision-making on competing priorities and terminal issues
  • Introduce efficiencies with your continuous improvement mindset while keeping our day to day operations functioning
  • Direct terminal projects including management of contractor crews, technical lead for design and installation, and technical start up trouble shooting
  • Oversee site security, managing key performance indicators and providing support into the budgeting process
  • Support and engage in communicating with TopTech to ensure all programming changes being considered are well evaluated and communicated

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • A Journeyman Electrician license and mechanical experience
  • A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Strong communication, troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to make timely decisions
  • A working knowledge of NFPA 70e and ARC flash training
  • The ability to troubleshoot equipment and systems for electrical malfunctions
  • A strong safety record with solid safety behaviors and demonstrated leadership
  • Experience reading and interpreting drawings and schematics
  • Experience with PLC equipment and extensive trouble shooting
  • An adaptive work style with an ability to manage multiple priorities, challenging demands and function positively in a dynamic collaborative work environment
  • A valid driver’s licence with a driving record acceptable to Suncor

Preference for:

  • A highly motivated self-directed professional with proven analytical aptitude and understanding of instrumentation and electrical equipment
  • Proficient understanding of Microsoft Office, TopTech and SAP
  • Knowledge of petroleum terminal operations and maintenance as well as truck and pipeline petroleum transport operations

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Commerce City West Rack Terminal, located at 5575 Brighton Blvd.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs and a 24/7 on-call rotation requirement to deal with emergency situations or operational problems and requires you to respond to emergencies at delivery locations
  • This position is safety sensitive
  • You will be required to perform duties in a variety of different environments both indoor and outdoor
