Field Coordinator (Facilities and Services)

As a valuable part of the Maintenance team, at the Edmonton refinery, you will be responsible for the coordination, monitoring, auditing and direct interaction with Suncor and contractor craft specific personnel on a daily basis to ensure that work is done in accordance with contract terms and that the safety of Suncor and contract employees is not compromised.


You will use your expertise to:

  • Provide field coordination of hourly and contract craftsmen employed in the repair, adjustment, modification, removal and/or installation of plant equipment and facilities to ensure the work is completed in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Act as the single point of contact with contractors and monitor contractor performance management daily
  • Support and coordinate contractors that are not onsite on a regular basis
  • Ensure incidents are managed as per the refinery Incident Learning and Prevention Governance Process
  • Complete safety audits; participate in and promote safety initiatives
  • Participate in Leadership Safety Contact visits by Team Leaders and Senior Management
  • Assist with the management of refinery maintenance contractors - safety, manpower planning and logistics
  • Participate in turnarounds (T/A’s) as requested, support Construction/T/A activities
  • Assist in job planning as required, especially priority work
  • Participate in shop audits and work to resolve action items
  • Communicate with Maintenance Coordinators, Operators and Engineers to facilitate work efficiently
  • Screen and approve Central notifications
  • Complete and investigate Enablon entries

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • 3 - 5 years of refinery experience
  • A Trade disciplined background
  • A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to interact with all levels of an organization
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing

Preference for:

  • Advanced computer skills in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and SAP
  • A highly motivated self-starter, who is able to make decisions with integrity, resolve conflict in a timely and effective manner and support company objectives and policies
  • Proven ability to make strategic and tactical decisions and recommendations
  • Highly motivated to achieve the best results and deliver the most value with the teams you work with
  • Strong organizational skills


Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Edmonton refinery in Sherwood Park, located at 801 Petroleum Way
  • Majority of work will be field execution with some office work
  • You have an ability to manage multiple priorities, challenging demands and function positively in a dynamic, collaborative work environment
  • Work can be stressful due to the wide variety of issues that may require attention at the same time
