Procurement Coordinator

Job Overview

In this temporary role reporting to the manager, supply chain management (SCM), you will coordinate the activities of the supply chain planning and scheduling function by understanding and balancing the demand for materials and services, reviewing business unit requirements, and ensuring fulfillment in accordance to the work plan milestones.

Key Accountabilities

  • Contribute to meeting or exceeding annual planning and scheduling objectives, measures, and performance targets for the supply of materials and services
  • Review planned work and resolve concerns and issues regarding jobs, resources and material/service availability
  • Ensure the purchase requisition correctly identifies the appropriate materials and services and date required
  • Validate the proper usage of material and service masters in the purchase requisition
  • Work with business partners and suppliers to identify materials and services opportunities that extend outside of the work schedule and coordinate the associated schedule changes
  • Resolve scheduling issues and notify affected stakeholders
  • Manage changing delivery and mobilization requirements resulting from scope adjustments, timeline interruption and cancellations and communicate changes to the relevant business partners
  • Ensure the mobilization process for labour and services in accordance to the work schedule, and communicate schedule changes to the respective services
  • Contact the buyer to confirm the requisitions for required materials and services have been received and POs have been released
  • Manage the delivery dates for all materials and services based on capacity and demand, communicating the specifics to the requestor

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • 10 or more years’ experience in supply chain with increasing responsibility
  • Oil and gas, mining or utilities industry experience preferred
  • Prior experience in procurement and contracting required
  • Post-secondary business or supply chain degree preferred
  • Current SCM designation or working towards SCM designation considered an asset
  • High School diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Apply critical thinking to develop strategies and develop or contribute to solutions for medium to high complexity activities
  • Make ethical and professional judgments based on industry and Suncor standards
  • Ability to interact with category management, other procurement specialists and leadership on issues
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrate organizational skills to balance priorities, deliver against key milestones and manage tight timelines

Working Conditions

  • This job is engaged regularly outside normal business hours to support the supply operations team and the business unit
