Maintenance Planner

Job Overview

Reporting to the team lead, maintenance planning and scheduling, you will identify and manage all factors relevant to achieving safe, environmentally responsible and cost effective maintenance planning and scheduling.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop an effective maintenance plan, modify the plan for variations due to availability of resources due to operations, actual work completed or additional work requirements
  • Prepare routine job plans and investigate work requirements, prepare logical breakdowns of work and sequence associated tasks, taking into account multi-craft alignment
  • Develop detailed work plans covering information, procedures and standards for maintenance activities in respective area
  • Maintain and continuously improve job plans and associated SAP data (Strategies, Work Centre’s, Plans etc.)
  • Maximize resource productivity by identifying and coordinating the supply of parts, materials, special tools, external services and rental equipment and prepare relevant documentation
  • Assist in the development and provide input and suggestions to improve effectiveness of maintenance programs, processes and procedures
  • Ensure compliance to all relevant Suncor policies and standards - including the Management of Change (MoC) process and maintenance business processes – input into the development of area-specific procedures and standards
  • Adherence to all health, safety and environment standards, and ensure effective actions and programs are in place to sustain safety and reliability performance goals (Field Level Risk Assessments, Focused Observations, Incident Learning Program, all external regulatory requirements)

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Five or more years of experience in maintenance planning and scheduling and/or a similar industrial setting
  • A minimum five years of related strong working knowledge of maintenance and reliability in mobile equipment, fixed plant, utilities or infrastructure
  • Relevant trade certificate, diploma, or degree or equivalent technical and operational experience
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

 Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite; SAP and Livelink experience is an asset
  • Effective communicator with the ability to develop positive working relationships across a multitude of business units
  • Ability to take initiative and follow through on pending items through strong prioritization and organizational skills
  • Able to multi-task and be flexible in a fast-paced environment
  • You are a highly motivated self-starter with the ability to make decisions with integrity and support company objectives and policies
  • You hold others accountable, and expect others to do the same

Working Conditions

  • This is a camp based position at the Fort Hills site
  • The shift schedule is a 7 days on/ 7 days off rotation
